Le 13 décembre 1983, les Pistons et les Nuggets nous gratifiaient d’un véritable All-Star Game en pleine saison régulière. Tout simplement le match le plus prolifique de l’histoire : 370 points, 142 paniers, 93 passes décisives et quatre joueurs à plus de 40 unités ! Tous ces chiffres sont des records et ils tiennent encore… Porté par de grands Isiah Thomas (47 points, 17 passes, 5 rebonds et 4 interceptions) et John Long (41 points, 8 passes, 6 rebonds et 3 interceptions), Detroit s’imposait après trois prolongations face à Denver, sur un score hallucinant de 186-184 !


Two of the best offenses in the NBA during the 1983-84 season produced one of the wildest games in NBA history on Dec. 13, 1983. The Pistons won the historic game in triple-overtime 186-184. Isiah Thomas led the way for Detroit with 47 points, 17 assists, five rebounds and four steals. John Long added 41 points, six rebounds and eight assists. For the Nuggets, Kiki Vandeweghe scored a game-high 51 points with nine rebounds and eight dimes. Alex English added 47 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. In total, Detroit finished 74-for-136 (54.4 percent) overall and 37-for-60 from the free throw line. Denver shot 68-for-115 (59.1 percent) from the floor and 47-for-57 from the free throw line. Despite the historic score, the teams each finished just 1-for-2 from 3-point range.
