The 2009 New Orleans Saints rode the NFL’s best offense to their first Super Bowl title in franchise history. The Saints, who went 13-3 during the regular season, scored a league-best 31.9 points per game thanks in large part to QB Drew Brees, who led the NFL in passing TDs (34), completion percentage (70.6) and passer rating (109.6). In the playoffs, the New Orleans offense was even more dynamic as the Saints beat the Cardinals 45-14, the Vikings 31-28, and the Colts 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV. During the regular season, wide receivers Marques Colston and Robert Meachem caught nine TD passes each, while running backs Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas each scored eight total touchdowns. The Saints ranked 20th in scoring defense but were second in takeaways, with 39. The biggest Saints takeaway occurred in Super Bowl XLIV, when a Tracy Porter pick six in the 4th quarter sealed a Saints Super Bowl win.
